St. Luke’s Art Department Celebrated Visual Arts Week

S.A.
Visual Arts Week — held Dec. 11-15 — celebrated the creativity and dedication of our Middle and Upper School art students and showcased their beautiful artwork from the first half of the school year.

Samantha Mongardi, Middle School Art Department Chair, and Jessica Dowling, Middle School Art Teacher, led activities that included:
  • Lunchtime art-themed games;
  • Compliments and Cookies, an opportunity for all Middle School students to browse the artwork created by their peers, leave a compliment, and receive a thank you cookie;
  • A collaborative weaving project;
  • Visiting puppeteer artist Adelka Polak;
  • The Middle School Art Show, an evening event where students, parents, faculty, and staff peruse the art displays and gather to celebrate our student artists.
In the Upper School, Sean Lynch, Upper School Art Department chair, and Jeorge Yankura, instructor of photography, kicked off the Winter Art Show, which featured original student works in ceramics, paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, and mixed media arts. Artwork will be displayed in the Class of 2019 Art Gallery through mid-January.
